It's been an epic year for the Visual Monkies and we'd like to take a short moment to thank you for helping to make it happen.
2012 saw two of the films that we worked on screened in festivals around the world. Firstly, "The 25th Reich" a sci-fi feature, for which we rotoscoped key sequences involving the villainous Nazi Robot Spiders, has been screened at the Puchon International Film Festival, Perth's Revelation International Film Festival and recently here in our home turf at the Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF).
"HUGE", the 15 minute short film for which we were commissioned to do VFX, including sky replacements, set extensions and prop removal, has just started its festival run. "HUGE" recently screened at BIFF as part of the Queensland Made Shorts screening. It has also just been accepted into the 2013 Flicker Fest in Sydney (which is the only Australian Film Festival accredited by the Academy Awards), so our fingers are extra crossed for the supremely talented Producer/Director combo Charlie and Shane. Good luck guys!
So what's coming up in 2013? We are currently hard at work on our own short film "Bigger Fish" starring the boy featured in this year's Christmas card. Check out the blog on our website for updates on our progress and to see exclusive concept artwork. www.visualmonkies.com.au/blog.html
We'll be running our regular Manga Workshops for the State Library of Queensland again in January. So if there are any 9-16 year olds out there keen to learn how to draw Manga, sign up now! Places tend to disappear quickly.
On a separate note, we will be closed from the 24th of December and re-opening on the 2nd of January for a short well deserved Christmas break.
We hope your year has been as exciting as ours. Stay in touch and we look forward to working with you again in the New Year.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
